What is Prey about?
Before we get into Prey, those unfamiliar with the series may need a general overview of the series’ premise.
The first movie in the series, Predator, was released in 1987. He played Arnold Schwarzenegger (pictured above) as Major Alan “Dutch” Schaefer, the leader of an elite paramilitary group that embarks on an expedition in the jungles of Central America. Schaefer and his crew battle the Predator, an alien trophy hunter who travels the galaxy in search of enemies for ritual battles. In other films in this series, representatives of the Predator genre attack Los Angeles (Predator 2) and kidnap people to take them to a specially preserved hunting planet (Predators) and try to carry out the entire invasion (The Predator). Prey is the fifth film in the series, directed by Dan Trachtenberg of 10 Cloverfield Lane. The action takes place in 1719 on the Great Plains of North America in the Comanche Nation. Naru, one of the Comanche warriors, meets a predator while hunting his tribe’s prey. She must use all her strength and skill to stop him before her tribe becomes a trophy.
The film’s main actors are members of the Fort Peck Sioux Tribe, Amber Midthunder (Legion Banshee), Stormee Kipp and Julian Black Antelope. Prey, although written and filmed in English, is notable for the first time as it has full Comanche and Dub subtitles. The original cast returns to express their roles.
