How long does GlobalProtect take to connect?
When the user right-clicks the GlobalProtect icon and selects connect, it can take up to 15 seconds for the login box to appear. Once the user logs in, another 30-45 seconds may elapse before the client connects.
Why is GlobalProtect so slow? Throughput is expected to be slower when using the GlobalProtect client as opposed to a non-VPN or direct connection. There are several reasons for this: Both the client and the firewall have to encrypt/decrypt and encapsulate/decapsulate the traffic, which causes processing delays.
