Microsoft has released an update for the Windows Subsystem for Android, which allows all Windows 11 Insiders to use the VPN’s IP address with Android apps.

By taking out Network Address Translation and bridging the VM to host IP, Android apps can now communicate with other devices connected to the same network, including IP cameras, audio streaming devices, or playing multiplayer LAN games.
“This setting allows Android applications to connect to other devices connected to the same network as the Windows computer.” This setting allows you to play wirelessly while enabled,” according to the documentation for the WSA Advanced Networking feature.

Microsoft today announced that Windows Subsystem for Android version 2205.40000.14.0 has been made available on all Windows 11 Insider channels. This comes with additional features.
The WSA virtual machine can use the desktop VPN connection IP address to connect to the WSA virtual machine. This is a unique feature.
With this new feature, users can connect to a VPN from their desktop and allow Android apps to bypass government restrictions on content, access content restricted to regions, or simply improve privacy by remaining anonymous on the Internet.
This feature requires the Advanced Networking feature to be enabled in the WSA settings.
However, when BleepingComputer tested this feature, the Windows subsystem for Android was no longer able to connect to a NordVPN connection, indicating that you may encounter problems with other VPN applications.
To enable WSA work again, we had to turn off the VPN connection.
Other improvements announced today
Microsoft announced support for VPN, Advanced Networking for ARM and AV1 Codec in addition to support for kernel patches and IPv6 networking.
